Abstract: The micromechanical deformation behavior of DP800HHE steel under biaxial and non-proportional loading conditions has been analyzed. In-situ neutron diffraction experiments were combined with multiscale numerical simulations. Three loading paths were examined: (I) purely biaxial tensile loading, (II) plane strain tension followed by biaxial tension, and (III) biaxial tension followed by plane strain tension with a maximum equivalent von Mises strain gradient of 3.53%. The macroscopic stress response was obtained through finite element simulations of the experimental geometries and loading conditions. These stresses were subsequently used for comparison with crystal plasticity simulations. Using these simulations, phase-resolved lattice strains were calculated. The simulated lattice strain evolution was compared to in-situ neutron diffraction measurements for validation, enabling a detailed evaluation of the predictive capability of the crystal plasticity simulation framework for biaxial and complex non-proportional loading paths. The results show that the dislocation-density-based crystal plasticity model predicts stresses and lattice strains for these three loading paths with high accuracy, even though the phase-specific material parameters were calibrated solely from a uniaxial tensile test.
