Glass-ceramics and molybdenum doping synergistic approach for Nasicon-type solid-state electrolytes
Advancing energy density, enabling lithium metal anodes, and ensuring unparalleled safety and operational reliability in lithium batteries hinge on advancing inorganic solid-state electrolytes. To overcome current im-pediments, we present an innovative approach that integrates glass-ceramics with a pioneering new Nasicon strategy involving molybdenum doping. [...]

Diffusion bonding of steels with a homogeneous microstructure throughout the joint
Cold-finished carbon steel bars were bonded by means of the transient liquidphase bonding (TLPB) process using amorphous metallic foils of the eutectic Fe-Bcomposition as filler material. A homogeneous microstructure throughout thejoint was obtained. [...]

Mössbauer Studies of Haltern 70 Amphorae from Castro do Vieito, Northwest of Portugal
Crystals 14(9), 786 - () [10.3390/cryst14090786]
Haltern 70 amphorae sherds from Castro do Vieito, a Roman settlement from the NW of Portugal occupied during the early imperial period, were studied by Mössbauer spectroscopy at room temperature and 4.2 K, XRD, and XRF, aiming to understand the firing conditions of their production. Firing in air at 750 and 800 °C were performed in a sherd that was carefully studied. [...]

Prompt gamma rays of lanthanum and praseodymium produced by inelastic scattering of fission neutrons
Emission of prompt gamma rays in lanthanum and praseodymium nuclei triggered by (n,n’γ) inelastic scattering reactions of fission neutrons was investigated with the instrument FaNGaS (Fast Neutron-induced Gamma-ray Spectrometry) at Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum (MLZ). We identified 125 gamma lines (54 for lanthanum and 71 for praseodymium), for which we give the relative intensities and production cross sections. [...]

4D Tomography for neutron depth profiling applications
High-rate Neutron Depth Profiling (NDP) is a very efficient and precise probe for studying the evolution of lithium concentration in thin-layer structures, e.g., battery electrodes. NDP is typically limited to a one-dimensional depth analysis summed over the profile area covered by the neutron beam. [...]

Comparative Analysis of Reactivity of Al and Ga Doped Garnet Solid State Electrolyte at the Interface with Li Metal
Lithium garnet (Li7La3Zr2O12, LLZO) based solid electrolytes are leading candidate materials for all-solid-state batteries with lithium metal anodes because of their high ionic conductivity, high mechanical toughness, and superior electrochemical stability. While doping LLZO with Al and Ga increases its ionic conductivity by stabilizing the cubic phase, the impact of dopants on its (electro)chemical stability at the interfaces with Li metal is critical. [...]

Investigation of the structure of protein–polymer conjugates in solution reveals the impact of protein deuteration and the size of the polymer on its thermal stability
Protein science 33(6), e5032 () [10.1002/pro.5032]
The conjugation of proteins with polymers offers immense biotechnological potential by creating novel macromolecules. This article presents experimental findings on the structural properties of maltose-binding protein (MBP) conjugated with linear biodegradable polyphosphoester polymers with different molecular weights. [...]

Functional in vitro diversity of an intrinsically disordered plant protein during freeze–thawing is encoded by its structural plasticity
Protein science 33(5), e4989 () [10.1002/pro.4989]
Intrinsically disordered late embryogenesis abundant (LEA) proteins play a central role in the tolerance of plants and other organisms to dehydration brought upon, for example, by freezing temperatures, high salt concentration, drought or desiccation, and many LEA proteins have been found to stabilize dehydration-sensitive cellular structures. Their conformational ensembles are highly sensitive to the environment, allowing them to undergo conformational changes and adopt ordered secondary and quaternary structures and to participate in formation of membraneless organelles. [...]

Coupled study on in-situ synchrotron high-energy X-ray diffraction and in-situ EBSD on the interfacial stress gradient in layered metals
As one of the heterostructures, the layered structure has attracted extensive research interest as it achieves superior properties to individual components. The layer interface is considered a critical factor in determining the mechanical properties of layered metals, where heterogeneity across the interface results in the strengthening of the soft layer and forming an interfacial stress gradient in the hard layer. [...]
