Abstract: Electric vehicles are an option to slow down climate change. In this work, we analyzed the usage of residual stress to guide the magnetic flux in electrical steel sheets (ES), which comprise the magnetic core of electric drives. Neutron grating interferometry is a uniquely capable technique to visualize the magnetic flux and the domains in bulk samples. For the novel quantitative and spatially resolved analysis of the size of the magnetic domains in ES, we improved the technique and analyzed the noise during measurements.
