Abstract: Modern electric motors require efficient flux guidance in NOES rotors, but conventional cut‑out flux barriers reduce mechanical stability. Residual‑stress‑based barriers, as currently investigated, offer an alternative. Using neutron grating interferometry, the performance of such residual-stress-based flux barriers is investigated and sources of angular anisotropy are identified. A simpler measurement approach is presented based the obtained insights to efficiently address engineering questions.
