Abstract: The two magnetic materials nickel (Ni) and Cu(C4H4N2)2(H2O)2Cr2O7 (Cu-pyz), which exhibit different magnetic dimensionality, have been investigated to further the understanding of their microscopic interactions and the resulting magnetic properties. The magnetic dynamics of Ni close to the Curie temperature are studied regarding dipolar interactions using the neutron spectroscopy method MIEZE. Cu-pyz is identified as a 2D quantum Heisenberg antiferromagnet by magnetometry and three-axis spectroscopy.
