Abstract: The aim of the present note is to derive a general formula for a detective quantum efficiency (DQE) of aneutron image plate detector which includes all essential parameters of the system. Relying on that formula,the effects of a variety of processes involved in the formation of an output signal are discussed and estimated.The theoretical value of the DQE is compared with the experimental one measured for the commercial neutronimage plate BAS-IP ND 2025 (FUJIFILM).
