Abstract: Inelastic neutron scattering is a unique technique to study excitations, for instance in quantum systems, low-dimensional magnets, heavy fermions etc. As today's focus shifts gradually to smaller sample sizes, a neutron focusing device shall be installed on the triple-axis spectrometer PANDA. The overall properties of such a focusing device will be systematically studied and optimized in this bachelor thesis through advanced numerical Monte Carlo methods (McStas package). The nal device will ensure a top-class spectrometer for the years to come, in study- ing more exotic properties of matter in combination with more stringent sample environment conditions (extreme pressures, high magnetic elds and temperatures).
